Crawling Toward the Sun

Hi, I'm Lindsay!
This is my blog -- full of thoughts, feelings, and snapshots of my evolving life.
"I see a generation rising up to take the place with selfless faith."
Psalm 103: 15-16

You guys — it’s my last all-nighter of the week!

The reason why I haven’t been so hot at Tumblin’ this week? I will tell you.

Monday: Wake up at 8 a.m. Hit campus at 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for back-to-back classes, edit stories in the office until our 5 p.m. meeting, assign stories at the meeting, return to the office to contact sources, continue editing stories until 11 p.m. Decide to write my opinion column around midnight, which I perfect at 1 a.m.

Tuesday: Wake up at 6:45 a.m. Class at 8 a.m., and I’m done for the day at 9 a.m. Trudge to the office to cram for Biodiversity while beginning to lay out my section in The Colonnade and still editing stories. Phone interview at noon with a source for next week’s story. Spend the next eight hours in the office doing random tasks. Home at 5 p.m., only to begin cramming for Biodiversity. Remember that I also have to write a Spotlight Q&A this week, so I get to that around 1 a.m. More Biodiversity until 3 a.m.

Wednesday (the real monster): Wake up at 8 a.m. Sit through Publication Editing and Spanish while only pretending to listen, when I’m really just obsessing over my Bio notes. Take my Bio exam and realize that I definitely over-studied, darn. Leave feeling happy, although exhausted. Head straight to the office to make some final edits before heading home for a nap! Wake up at 5 p.m., back to the office at 6 p.m. to get down to business. I find the time to sneak out around 7 p.m. to go to Wesley Worship for some much-needed time with friends, God and coffee. Designing, editing and all-around hilarity ensues until 1:30 a.m., when I finally get to go home. Cram for my Mass Media Research exam that is only six hours away. Go to “bed” at 4 a.m.

Thursday: Wake up from my two hours of “sleep” at 6 a.m. to continue studying for the Research exam. Exhausted, and wearing yesterday’s makeup. Beautiful. Drive to class half asleep to take the test. I make sure to use impressive, big words on the short answers to make myself sound intelligent. I’m one of the last to finish, thanks to my love for fluff vocabulary. Return home around 10 a.m. to dive into my bed and sleep away everything.

And here I am now, making a study guide for my Spanish test tomorrow while simultaneously wondering how I’m going to find the time to study for the Publication Editing exam, which is also tomorrow.

All I want to do is cast all of these cares away and read my Bible, but I can’t. I feel so trapped by academia sometimes.

Pray, pray, pray :)
